Hello there lovely people! Long time no see, hope there's still some pie left...

I finally went to Haworth House yesterday, enjoyed it v much and marvelled at the teeny weeny little scraps of paper they produced their stories about Gondal and Angria etc, but the best surprise was walking through the gift shop to find Jasper's Books in there!

Has anyone else been to Haworth House recently/ would like to compare notes?

Haylo! Long time no shiny! Stupid question, but what did the place look like?

Hiya Kitten! Having only read Elizabeth Gaskell's biography and seen way too many Bronte adaptations I was expecting a small, cold spartan house out on it's own amongst the windy moors- instead it was a modest but comfortable little house on the edge of a small village with some surprisingly rich furnishings, admittedly quite small; but it really did manage to bring Charlotte to life:- lots of hand-written letters on display including some handmade books about the lands they created and wrote about when they were young (in eye-achingly small print!). I've got to say I was expecting an original copy of Jane Eyre inside a glass case but that was another piece of wishful thinking, along with the wish that the authentic 18th century pub down the road (a favourite of Bramwells) didn't have a giant Costa Coffee sign on the outside, it kinda ruined the effect! Was impressed by how uncommercialised Haworth House itself was though, definitely recommend a visit if you're ever on our shores...

lol. At least there wasn't a macca's express at the pub!

I gotta say, I've always imagined a bleak little cottage on a cold windswept moor under grey skies too! If I ever get to Albion, I'll be sure to check it out :)
