(Shudder) I'm not a fan of Sandra, so I'll nod and smile, then suggest someone like ... Kate Winslet, Tilda Swinton, Cate Blanchette or Greta Scacchi.

It's an interesting question!

My reading of the sagas causes me to think that Thursday is a well endowed lass. While Ms Bullock has the necessary credentials in an acting sense it would require someone of the order of Honor Blackman or Diana Rigg in the old Avengers series to do the part properly.

Can someone do a search of 35 year old English actresses who are single mums, ex military service, literate, and hormone arousing. Post the results here!

But more importantly, who will play the dodo?

Clearly a job for the Aardman crew.

Welcome to the madhouse, Shakespeare, or would you rather we call you Francis?

I like Mari's portrayal of Thursday in Jasper's postcards--I wonder if she can act? I almost always prefer unknowns to big-name movie stars in roles like this.

Welcome, Shakespeare! Can we call you Willy?

Miranda Richardson.

Or possibly Laura Fraser.

Sadly not a Brit, but I could imagine Uma Thurman being fairly convincing in the role.

Not an Uma fan in the slightest. But Rachel Weisz gets my vote.

Hi Vikki!

Rachel Weisz would definitely be a good pick ......... just trying to think of other possibles :-)

And what have got against Uma? :-)
