If you think this room has questionable levels of sanity you should try Paris, where only the river is Seine!

Pah. Not a bank holiday here :(

150g milk chocolate
150g dark chocolate (I recommend Green & Blacks for both)
175g unsalted butter
80g SR flour
3 eggs beaten

Take out 60g of the milk chocolate and chop into small rough chunks

Melt 150g of dark chocolate and 90g of milk chocolate in a bowl over a pan of simmering water.

Stir in butter

When all melty, take off heat. Stir in the eggs and flour.

Stir in about 2/3 of the milk chocolate chunks

Pour goop into a 20" square cake tin (pre greased)

Bake on 180c for about 30 mins or until cooked to desired consistency (I prefer mine slighly gooey in the middle).

Chop into squares, top with rest of choc chunks.

These are great served warm from the oven with cream or ice cream but also work well cold.

Let me know how it goes! :)

Damn and blast and hell and damnation.

What I really mean by that is...

My brother and his lovely wife and their charming child are expected on Saturday.

I am going to try this recipe.

I'll let y'all know how it goes...

Kitten: I think you are striking a good blow for punsters.

My mom and sister went with me to see "Death at a Funeral" this week. At one point, I leaned over to my mom and said "Look! Battenburg cake!" I know she didn't know what the hell I was talking about, but now I am going to look for it during wake scenes.

Maybe Battenberg cake should be more popular in movies- you know extra colour and stuff.
Death at a Funeral? what movie is that? I've never heard of it ^_^

Sorry I haven't responded. I had to start back to work. Death at a Funeral is an English movie that just had a limited release in the states. Well, I think it is English. The actors are and it takes place there.

For chocolate and blue cheese anythings try the High Energy Magic building at UU. Also experts with anchovy and banana recipes.

Someone mentioned two days of rain. Can we have that please? And will exchange for ingredients to make Battenberg cake!

Any unconsumed Battenberg cake should be made available via a fforum. Expert tasters will provide feedback on taste, texture, compatibility with existant cakes and tea/coffee.

You mean you would like to watch them spray the crumbs, turn their eyes and generally grimace?

Nem, did you make the brownies?

Confusion is ground state around here. Just wait until the worst of the mess has been swept up then try again :)

Actually xmo it was I who made the brownies. But maybe nem did too? Confusion is the word all right. Especially when I was converting from grams to cups, tsps & tbsps.

They were universally commended. The brownies, I mean...

Sorry OC, I scrolled down too far!

Glad they worked though :)

Sorry about the measurements though - if I'd thought about it I could have got you the US standard ones - they're in the recipe book!

Mmm freshly baked chocolate brownies - the best birthday present a girl could receive.

Going back to the after dinner mints thing: I think that mint flavour has been totally spoiled by toothpaste. I have to use it everyday but don't like the taste at all. Why don't they make it in more fun flavours like orange or... oooh <bounces on seat> chocolate toothpaste!!!
