It's not too bad though, it's bad when it's your children doing the same to you.
I know all about that. My 2 keep checking and asking why I don't answer my home phone in the week any more after 8-30.
'Well sweet, it's cos I was round at my girlfriends, and only got home at 6 am?'
Numbers? You are back! Or did you not go...? Sure you left....
Hello anyway.
This is the nice thing about living at Uni. No one really cares where you sleep.

When you start to snore in a Cognitive science lecture mid afternoon the lecturers tend to get a bit stroppy. You become unwitting competition for them and are generally far more interesting. I only survived because I had already handed in medical cert stating that I was malfunctioning and the specialists couldn't find a reason. Eventually tracked after two years to a partly malfunctioning pituatry gland. Temporary solution was instructions to eat chocolate, sweet lollies, unsweet lollies, and anything with a bit of sugar in it. No protein as it took too long to metabolise and I would go to sleep in the meantime.
I was lucky with Geography subjects. I had Rowley Twidale as a lecturer and he was entertaining as well as informative.
I do not have afternoon lectures. But I do tend to fall asleep in the lectures I do have.
It is like I am allergic to lecturerers or something. I do not crash regularly at a given time (since lecture times shift from day to day), but I regularly doze off. No matter how interested I am.

Well, it was Cog Science. It would put most normal people to sleep, although computer science and mathematics students appeared to maintain some semblance of alertness and understanding.
[I got 55% for each of the three essays I had to submit]
Getting back on topicish here, I know dangerous money is being spent on this but, I met my girlfriends mother last week, 71 looks a good 10 years younger, she likes the look of me, and commented that we look very comfortable as a couple.
Very much a bare pass, but that's all I needed. However I found out later that people with linguistic skills as opposed to numeric usually got bare passes. It is apparently a geek subject.
As for someone attempting to get back on topic such behaviour is unacceptable in a universe where nearly every thing happens and what doesn't happen has a good excuse.
Good luck with the new person, and her mother. If you have her mother onside you have most of the battle won. Fathers follow along without too much display of initiative and ex's have no say in the matter. Are there any byproducts of her previous relationship? They may cause some settling in problems, but nothing that chocolate, humour and/or a shared interest won't fix.
Geek subject? Check the latest xkd for how to deal with that. It is the one involving "nerd sniping".

Think ....deep breath....it is not as good as chocolate. You can eat chocolate in public. You can admit to your mum that you enjoy chocolate. Chocolate doesn't make you sleep on the wet patch. You can keep chocolate for later and it doesn't degrade. Chocolate doesn't hog the TV remote. Chocolate doesn't watch the footy and cricket but allows you to watch reruns of Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, etc. Chocolate doesn't leave its wrappings on the floor - not least without your consent.
there's no such things as an inadequate chocolate.
