Besides, the history monks do a good job but after Thief of Time even they have to work hard to get nearly everything back in place. It is mentioned that after a time stoppage bits of history get misadjusted so it is possible that the odd references are from another trouser leg of time.

Which just goes to show that every writer with continuity issues ought to write a time travel story, just to disguise the fact. It really is the best excuse ever!

Or the worst, because then you have to keep track of those problems and take them further, AND have them resolve properly at the end!

But you have a time machine/rift/hole/swirly vortex thingy *delete as applicable* , can there ever be an end?

Just in case the BBC are reading this:

No.

Ooh, a handy link into Doctor Who! What did we think of it last night?

Liked the bit with Donna at the door and the Doctor at the window. Me&a mate are trying to work out how the bit at the end worked.

Thought the Adipose where very cute, reminded me of a toy that my oldest had years ago from holiday once. Sarah Lancashire was very good, shame they killed her like that, she'd of been good coming back.

Ah, the Adipose reminded me of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man a little.

Do you mean the bit at the end which we can't specify without ruining it for others?

And now, as an obvious aside...
'The 13½ Lives of Captain Bluebear' is a very good book!

Ooh, I did enjoy that book! (Though I liked Rumo better.) He's got another book out called "The City of Dreaming Books" that sounds a little, well, Ffordian.

Interesting... Is Rumo very different to Bluebear?

(I've got Flatland coming in the post soon too!)

Flatland is fun!

Project Gutenberg has a free version, since it is in the public domain now.

Here: Link 1 and Illustrated Version.

Well, Rumo has, on one hand, a much more continguous narrative, which is why I like it better than Bluebear. On the other hand, it is really violent. The fact that it's fantastic creatures that are killing each other doesn't make things better from my perspective.

Havn't read the City of Dreaming Books yet.

Thank you all. Project Gutenberg's brilliant! That's where I read 'Omnilingual' for the first time. Good old H. Beam Piper.

If you've read Flatland I highly recommend Sphereland, by Dionys Burger. (Also Flatterland, by Ian Stewart, but Sphereland is the best in my opinion.)

I haven't read Flatland yet. There's a hardcopy version waiting at the delivery office for me. Student accommodation won't accept parcels here. I am however looking forward to it.

What is Flatland about? I'm trying to decide whether I want to expand into downloaded books...

As I understand it, it's about the lead character A. Square, who lives in a 2D world, discovering through the help of a visiting sphere that there are higher dimensions in the universe. It was written in Victorian times!

Wow, sounds pretty crazy for something written back then...

Not pulling my e-leg again?
