Expanding a little on answer 05, both the concept and similar articles have existed for hundreds (and hundreds) of years. The actual article which is the subject of this quest could not have existed more than 55 years ago. (It was a Monday.)

Is it a tool/utensil of some sort. (I know it's not a spork, cos. they've been around much longer than I thought.)

No. Not really. It fits a small part of the "tool" definition, but to say "yes" would be misleading.

14 Tv aerial? No.
Much less imaginative than that.

On Monday, 10th July 1967 New Zealand changed its change from librae, solidi and denarii to the current decimal coinage. My initial object was a bright and shiny 2008 $2 coin, but I'm sure Mr Venn would knee me in the coin purse if I failed to accept SM's skillful solution.

SM, the Crown of Conquerishousosityness and the Sceptre of Solvingitude are in the mail; the cloak I'm keeping until the weather breaks.

Crown and sceptre have arrived.
I will send a dagger so that you can become a spy.

The next object is animal

[OffTopic] I'm not sure what the average understanding of the term "household object" is, but wouldn't coins count as household objects?

[OnTopic] Is it edible?

Does it have more than three legs?

(delacuesta, according to my Australian mate, all animals are edible. But some taste like (I think I best censor it) poo.)

I instinctively define a household object as something that is much more likely to be found in a family home than elsewhere. I accept that "household object" could be used in the sense of "common, everyday object" and I did give a considered "no" to that question.
However, if wrong I'll accept my responsibility like a man (that is, I'll point out that almost certainly the government is somehow responsible.)

(Sorry Ian, I missed your question while enjoying the assertation that all animals are edible. This answer obviously also answers your question)
