Why can't I ever have nice things?
Sorry, I'm a bit upset about my washer's refusal to drain & spin laundry...

I thought it they were amazing and have spent some time wondering if I would rather have one of them or a working washing machine. The washing machine won.

"Have you reached a verdict on which you are all unanimous?"

Now on my third week of jury service, so that seems the most pressing great unanswered question.

Geg,

are you still juryisting?

If not, did your washing machine greet you with open valves?

Was anyone actually expecting a relevant answer? I think those are available at the library, but you must be willing to search out the answer yourself. Good luck. And mind that you keep your voice down.

So, why is the person least qualified frequently in charge?

VM, that question is great, but not unanswered: They were promoted from their previous position, at which they were also the person least qualified and therefore not wanted.

If the prime requirement for a position is being the least qualified for the post then the incumbent will often succeed and keep getting promoted. The higher they rise the more efficient they become at being least qualified. Everyone rises to their level of incompetence!

The Peter Principle from (?)1965.

I like the Dilbert Principle from the early 90's
"companies tend to systematically promote their least-competent employees to management (generally middle management), in order to limit the amount of damage they are capable of doing."
Dogbert said "leadership is nature's way of removing morons from the productive flow".

So, if I don't like the answers, is the question not answered? Or am I flat out of luck? d:-p <grin>

If you don't like the answer, perhaps you are asking the wrong question!

What better way of taking a a thread off-topic than by deliberately defy the thread title?

It's almost a requirement of the fForum!

Got the laundry situation under control (hope there won't be any GTL references here)-
think I'd rather beat my clothes on a rock at the river than set foot in a court room... :(

In the 90's, I was a follower of Paul's Law: You can't fall off the floor!

These days, I try to stay as far from the floor as possible...

Z42, I like this Paul! A man after my own heart. I've always been a floor person. If it needs to be organized, I spread it out over the floor, and go away. When my husband notices the organization skills I don't have, I scoop it all back up, then go out and by more if I need any of whatever it was. Works great except when the piggy bank is empty...

I suppose if I fall off the floor now, I'd be out on the street. Unless the dogs let me sleep in their dog house.

So, how does Snoopy balance on that doghouse, when he's asleep?
