PSD: if any of your plants start demanding blood - DON'T FEED THEM ! Whatever they offer as a reward, it isn't worth it. If Tess goes missing, check for a dog-shaped bulge in the foliage

And if any of them seem to be somewhere other than where you left them, don't be fooled. It wasn't your Mum looking for stray socks (assuming she'd dare handle them). Triffids are mobile, you know....

I have never thrown a vase at anyone! How dare you suggest such a thing?

Besides, computers make much more mess and it's so much more satisfying...

Another cool place for plants I've discovered just down the road - the plant labels are brilliant, and may be explained when you realise they specialise in exotic plants that are big, rare and normally quite spiky...

Apparently not. It's a hormone thing I think.

<girl annoyed>
"Arrrghhhh!"
<girl throws nearest heavy object through window>
"Ah, that's better!"

In the Mulu catalogue it mentions getting annoyed about boring plants on gardening shows, and then having to stare at the garden through a TV shaped hole in the glass...

Who was it who said that the only time he'd had a hormone was when he didn't pay?

My triffid turned up yesterday, btw. It seems to have settled in well, and the newest pitcher has already increased in size...

so if we don't hear from Ben for more than 6 hours in a row, should we worry that one of his plants ate him?

Here here Sarah!! Don't forget thrashing bloke with flowers then throwing vase full of water at him. This works tremendously with roses, the thorns scratch, he ends up soaking wet and then a bump on the head from the vase!

Very satisfying! And after a few years, a really good chuckle. I'm in stitches just thinking about it! hehe

My husband used to buy me flowers on the street in New York City, then bring them home on the train. Unfortunately, he frequently forgot them on the overhead rack, and left the train bouquet-less. Then he would come in and say, "I got you flowers today, but I left them on the train." I never knew exactly how to respond! Usually I just said, "Well, honey, thanks for the thought," and hoped that some underpaid train conductor took them home for his wife!
After those incidents my husband seemed to be reluctant to spend more money on flowers, so he doesn't buy them for me very often anymore. I do sometimes buy a bunch for myself if they're not too expensive. I find them cheerful, even if they do die eventually.

Some way back up this thread, PSD said he was giving in to his feminine side by buying plants for his room. Then he told us they were carniverous plants. Wonder what Freud would have made of that ?

Well, I've resisited the urge to buy the biggest pitcher plants I could find, so I guess that says something! The bromeliad isn't carnivorous though, and is very pretty.

I was watching the Nepenthes grow today - the tip that will form the pitcher has been slowly bending round into shape all day...

Skiffle: Very much the end of the relationship. He thought flowers would be acceptable gift for being caught with some female in a rather unflattering position.

As long as he doesn't buy carniverous plants to make up, we should be alright...
