Yes, I was building up a rather impressive collection since the council stopped making new guide dogs out of recycled corks (see earlier in the thread) but now my favorite Argentinian Malbec has switched to plastic corks, I'm wondering what I can make out of the plastic ones . . . any ideas?
Oh and welcome aboard, Tracy.
Actually, rather perversely, another reason I tend to prefer real corks is that the plastic ones are too easy to remove -- I'm rather pround of my extensive collection of corkscrews for every occasion, which have never failed me yet. As well as various mechanical ones, I've got a really plain, old-fashioned, depends-on-brute-force one (my favourite), one on my penknife that I carry everywhere, and a 'tourne bouchon' which is excellent for getting crumbly/broken corks out without getting bits in your wine -- it's a weird looking thing (2 steel blades, almost parallel, on a conventional corkscrew handle) and you wouldn't have thought it would work, but it does.
