Oh, a horse is a horse of course of course and no-one can talk to a horse of course, unless of course the horse of course is the famous Francis the Talking Mule.

so, we've not got any *specific* anti-matrix sentiments then?

various people at various times (and I forget who) have said they didn't like the film as it was badly written/full of holes etc.

Yes but they've all wandered off to other threads on principle, I think. I've forgotten who as well . . . could always look further up the thread to find out, but it's way too long now!

So it looks like it's just us Matrix fans here now.

But i'll leave the thread to you...

Most of my objections to 'the Matrix' are indeed much further up the thread. I can't be much more specific in my criticism as I've forgotten most of the details since watching it, and don't see why I should sit through it again, just to find out why I didn't like it the first time

M2 is a good popcorn flick, but I think it suffered from high expectations. The spec-fx in the first one are still inspiring automobile commercials! M2 has drawn out scenes that don't affect the rest of the movie and fight sequences that last just long enough for you to notice how long they last.

Possibly it suffers most from a lamentable lack of Alice in Wonderland references?

My brother tells me that you're not supposed to love it (or understand it)until at least the second viewing. I think it will have to appear in the library before I test that theory. Theory or no, it's a fun flick.
