Dell - do you get fed up of really bad puns along the lines of 'What does Dell eat?'

Are you ready for some?

(And welcome to the fforum, btw - I would have said 'hello' earlier, but haven't been around. Which must have made a nice change for everyone....)

I don't think we have Dell computers in Aus. My hubby is in the IT game so I most likely would have heard even if it was obscure. Never mind Dell. Your mum could have called you Hewlett-Packard

Dell computers are in Australia. Think of the ads: "Mate, you gotta buy a Dell."

My name is from when I wanted to join a Robin Hobb board, and I decided to make a name like in the books, they are all feelings or attributes.

The other alias, StormStoat, comes from when I wanted a hotmail address without an _ or number in it. After reading an article about how a tornado killed only some forest animals, I tried StormStoat and have kept it ever since.

Also, is Spec Ops pronounced Speck Ops or Spesh Ops?

PSD, surprisingly, people haven't thought of that many. For a while I spelled it Del, which caused people to hit me whenever their PC said "Hit Del to run setup". I got thoroughly bored by that one.

kaz, I wouldn't put it past her

The worst Dell ad over here is something about them being @#$%& & portable & stuff...

ZXSpectrum or ZX81 or even the trusty Oric. See Dell, you really got off lightly...

I won't mention Babbage's Analytical Engine as that could cause offence...

I think Apple is a nice name for a girl, could have an effect on what she grows up to do though.

btw Guy, if you're ever looking for a bit of Mac partisan support against the unceasing reality of Windows, let me know! :)

I know someone called Apple. My boss's brother is married to her.

Hooray another Maccie!

(I notice from the pix on the browsing problems page [www.jasperfforde.com] that the Fantastic Mr Ff uses a Mac too . . .)

The world of Windows is all too real for me, though -- I'm actually running Windoze on my Mac as I write (I need it for testing the web site I'm working on). The wonders of Virtual PC . . . seems a little sacriligious, though

If you want a really good fight with some Windows types, drop in to the forum called 'The Meeting Place' on thw Macuser site www.macuser.co.uk -- that particular froum is shared with the PCPro site . . .

Thanks, I'll definitely drop by there the next time the next time I've suffered Windows 'reliability' at work and require some anger management therapy.
