Jasper those rules are pure genius, now i need to convince my boyfriend to play again (we haven't played in months after another Monopoly related domestic incident)...
And good to see you are also a repressed younger kid!

OH MY GSD! That's hysterical! I'll have to find "equivalent" cards to delete, as the British game is somewhat different from the American game, but I think it could be done.
So Jasper, did your older brother also pin you down, using his knees to hold your shoulders, poke a finger into your chest repeatedly til you cried out then dribble a big line of drool towards your open maw and then suddenly try to suck it back up at the last second, only to fail horribly as the drool fell into your mouth? No? just me then...oh LOL
Inspired re-vamp of the rules. I want to create a new Chance card: "Telephone company digs up electric company cables. Electric company doesn't reconnect you for 5 days. Take everyone to the cleaners". £1000 to player.

I love it!!! Haven't played Monopoly for years, but I am almost tempted to go out and buy it to try it out! I particularly like the 'sing a song nominated by other players for inheriting £1000' card!!!!
(Disturbing soundtrack of ABBA's 'Take a Chance' is flashing through my head!)
Me and my friends used to love playing board games. In fact I still do, with different friends. Managed to lose all the houses and hotels from my Monopoly set somehow, so substituted small Lego pieces instead.
Got the old family set of 'Escape from Coldiitz' out of the attic last year and brought it to Sheffield. Amazingly intact - just missing two of the German pieces. So far as I'm concerned, rope always comes in 30' lengths
A happy childhood spent playing games might explain my ability to add the dots of 2 six-sided dice with a quick glance
Indeed. And I can move any number of spaces (up to 12) around the Monopoly board without having to count, which always seems to make people think I'm cheating somehow.
Actually read the rules now. Sounds fun, but all the ones that rely on the amount of cash you've got would be difficult for me... I always try and hide a stash of money (under the board, under the table, sit on it etc) so that people think I have less money than I have and change tactics... so I guess I wouldn't be allowed to do that?
I once played imaginary Monopoly at a Christmas party with a friend known as Matt the Hat (I'm sure you can guess why). No board, dice or anything, we randomly chose what number we'd thrown and then argued about what property we'd landed on. Great fun, especially trying to remember who'd bought which property and how much money I theoretically had.
We used to have Monopoly marathons when we were kids - my sister was an absolute demon at it and always won. We had our variations on the rules but not as extreme as Jasper's!
Trouble is, my sister now lives several hundred miles away (a good thing too!), the Dodo doesn't play board games and friends would rather be fiddling with their Gameboys!

My daughter has started collecting Monopoly games, she has a few versions and likes to use them together occasionally in a figure of eight pattern.
Where do I find these new rules so I can print them out for her?

actually he says peep, cheep, chirrup, squalk, muttermuttergrumblegrumble, oh and now he falls off his pirch whish is followed by a sheepish peek round to see if anyone was looking and a quick scramble back up
Those rules are great! I've played using quite a few of those, but I think we're going to have to play again soon using most of them. :)
My boyfriend just had a look through them & he approves also.
I recommend playing figure of eight monopoly if you have two boards (I have 7 sets & counting). Put two boards together on the Free Parking spot & it's just personal preference whether you go straight across at FP or go round it.
