Yup, Rob was the perfect host. Ah, how fondly I looked back on the bunk bed in the spare room on Saturday night, when I slept on a wooden floor under a large table.
And everyone is great, and Jasper is fantastic. Yay.
(And I'm going to see him again on Thursday. Whee!)
I have slept under a table myself in the past, but only because I couldn't get my sister and the bloke she was chatting up out of my room at the time. (This is my other sister, not the one who is likely to turn up on the Fforum!)
dave: :-p Only if he makes a surprise visit to Glasgow...
As regards the table, well, I was at a birthday party for a mate's wife, quite far out of Glasgow, so there was a whole bunch of people staying over. There was a marquee in the garden, a whole bunch of musicians (13 guitars of various sorts, a full drum kit, a variety of bongos etc, six amps and two large speakers) and a barbeque. For some reason me and my mates were the last ones to go to bed, at about 6.30am, so there were no handy sofas or carpeted rooms left... under the table was at least out of the way, and I was unlikely to be trod on. And I did have a sleeping bag. (The other option was a church pew, but it was very narrow - Kenny slept on it with his arms over his chest and woke up claiming to be a vampire.)
I was awoken at about 11 by a small crowd of children staring at me saying "She's still asleep!". And I didn't hit them, which I thought was very restrained.
Very restrained, indeed. Sounds rather like a party that I went to back in my student days. By the time that I decided to try getting some sleep (at about 4am?) there were so many people already sleeping on every suitable surface _ including one or maybe two in the bath _ that I ended up on the [carpeted] staircase, on a stair that was wider than the others because it was the angled one where the flight turned a corner. Some of the people who'd gone back to their own flat to sleep returned to this one, to continue the party, at breakfast-time...
