I've dislocated my knee cap, broke me nose and almost scalped myself when really tiny!

I also take threads away from their original path :(

I have tick-bite fever! Don't know when I managed to get bitten... but did! At some stage!

ZB, I hope it is not too serious! In Europe, tick-bites mean grave illnesses most of the times - don't know if it is the same in Africa...Hope you get better soon!

Hmm same. My foot looks like it has a bad case of elephantitis coming along... the other one is normal... but it does seem to be calming down. The fever has just about gone completely now. Just waiting for anything else to start up... malaria etc.

I had this nickname LONG before the Matrix ever came out.

Mind you, at least here you can be reasonably sure that SOME people will have heard of Neil Gaiman! :)

Me lord Dream. You seem to be in good health. :P

Have to spoil it don't I?

Sandman is excellent, strongly recommend that anyone with spare time gets their grubby paws on a copy. ;)

Hey! (hides hands behind back) How did you know I had grubby paws?

Playing with my two broder collie puppies always seems to leave me with grubby hands.

there will be NO grubby paws anywhere near my Gaiman collection my darlings. Grubby paws that wander near my precious Dreaming collection will be amputated, minced, fed to the cats, scooped out of the litter tray at a later date, made into models of the original hands and sent back to the owners.

Not that I'm attached to my Graphic novels or anything.

And they ARE graphic novels.

Not glorified comics.

Graphic novels.

Yes.

I bought a graphic novel but someone else had already coloured it in.

I recently have managed to get into comics... never having read them in my life! I just love them!

Agreed xmorpheus. You read any of the spin-offs?

yeah I've got the Dreaming and also Lucifer - I also got into the Books of Magic which while not technically a spin off, is from the same stable.

I've also got the two Death books and I got the Destiny series as well although it was a little esoteric for me. My favourite character is Delirium but she seems to have been bypassed on the spin off roundabout.

Lucifer is interesting - Mike Carey has now started writing books which are pretty good too.

I like Death. She's rather cute.

The Dreaming? That the original?

No it was a spin off - there were 2 graphic novels and a whole bunch of comics.

First one stars Cain, Abel and Goldie - the second one is a bit of a mish mash, but quite fun

In response to an earlier comment…xmorpheus, you do realize that Neil Gaiman didn't make up the name, right? :-D Just kidding, but it amazes me how many people believe that Harry Potter was the first appearance of hippogriffs and things like that!

Anyhoo, a friend just loaned me one of the Sandman series (she says it's the first one, but there seems to be no indication of this and I've heard several different ones cited as the "first") and I'll be reading it shortly!

The first one is technically Preludes and Nocturnes - it's certainly the first one in terms of story progression.

Due to the storylines, it's not the first one in terms of linear time as the stories jump back and forth.

I heartily recommend them but be prepared to have your heart broken......

It's amazing how many people think everything in JKR's books is invented by her. This is not an attack on her: she never claimed the stuff was original, but some of her fans seem to think because they read something there first, that it must be the first time it appeared anywhere.

(Then again I did hear someone complain that Peter Jackson's second LOTR film title was a poor taste cash-in, coming so soon after the terrorist attack in New York.)
