Nope, just looked and it only counts pages done after joining the team. Ah well.

That being the case, I've gone ahead and formed a team (#54). I can changed the name later if we want, and we can come up with an icon for our team if we like too.

Oddly enough, in the team listing "Jasper Fforde Ffans" is listed immediately below "Fans of Jesus". So I think it would be particularly amusing if we ended up with a higher page count.

Well, as I can't find any way to add it, there's absolutely no urgency involved, and it may be moot.

As for the other two froups, they can be quite fun sometimes (we had a nice time shooting down a troll who would have us believe that Muslims on trains were all potential terrorists), but more to the point they are very useful if you work in the transport business. Which I do.

H'mm. I've already done a B7/Discworld crossover, so why not a Thursday Next/Discworld crossover too?

I can see it now. Our heroine gains respect by winning an argument with the Luggage. Ridcully decides that she is some kind of wizard, and therefore clearly a man cleverly disguised in the manner of Viola in "Twelfth Night". There are alarms, excursions and a lot of flying peanuts.

Only one problem, folks. I haven't time to write it. Anyone else fancy the idea?

While not for one minute attempting to speak for Mr. Fforde, I would myself frown very heavily on fanfic or speculation anywhere he might read it. Not that I think he would mind such activity per se, but he wouldn't want to see it. Any ideas that happened to coincide with his own could be very embarrassing to all concerned. Some of us here have at various times written stuff that was set on the fringes of the Nextian universe, or used Nextian concepts, but I think actually using Jasper's own characters and situations is a big no-no.

That said, there are plenty of places to write fanfic where authors can't see it - with all due respect for the laws of copyright, of course. It's not a genre I care for, myself; parody and pastiche are fine, but attempting to directly ape an author has always struck me as pointless. A bit like trying to play the 1812 Overture on a comb and paper.

I was always fascinated by the way that the Wild Bunch in 'My Name is Nobody' went charging en masse about the Wild West to a soundtrack that sounded just like 'Ride of the Valkyries', played by a kazoo orchestra.

Jon has a serious point though (oo-err, Missus !). Terry Pratchett had to stop all contact with his fans' websites because he was getting accusations of nicking storylines from fan fiction. He was, not surprisingly, a tad peeved.
