Crossovers!

Apologies if someone else has already mentioned this elsewhere - I did a quick search and didn't find anything.

Happily reading Bones and Ashes last night (the latest Kathy Reichs).

Temperence Brennan, sitting in an airport, reading. What's she reading - I quote "her Jasper Fforde book"

I sense collusion! :p

Was Angel with her? That would be a way for a Thursday-Buffy crossover!

No it was the book rather than the TV series - she was waiting for the sister that she doesn't have in the TV series to show up at the airport!

But a Thursday/Buffy crossover....interesting concept. You have to wonder what would happen if Spike met....well...Spike!

Then there'd be two Spikes and that means (at least) one for me!

I'll take the other one, please.

Just started the Temperence series, liking it very much!

Michael Connolly and Robert Crais have done that -- had their detectives meet / see each other. Helps to be a Los Angeles detective, I guess. Could stumble over the other guy at any time!

I think that's a nice touch, esp as Temp visited one of Jasper's books!

Must get that now!

Do you think Jasper and Kathy Reichs have arranged a character exchange? (And was it approved by the CoG?)

I seem to remember him saying something along those lines...

Jasper can only be making a reference to the 2000AD comic in FAS in mentioning the "Thargoids". (Tharg is the mighty intergalactic, green-bonced editor of 2000AD for those non-scrots in our midst) I picked up a couple of other obscure 2000AD references which I'll have to dig out because they elude me at the moment - one was something about Strontium (Johnny Alpha - Strontium Dog) and was the other 'nu-earth' (Rogue Trooper)?

Not sure which came first as I have never really got into 2000AD (I gave up on comics after they banned the greatest comic ever - "Action" ..... "the seven penny nightmare"), however, the first time I came across the Thargoids was in the computer game "Elite" which was around in the mid 1980s.

Are we talking about Strontium Goat now?

I too loved the Fforde reference, especially as it seems that his is the only fiction that Tempe reads. Smart woman that!

Mari here - I've been trying to find the reference to Jasper in the Kathy Reichs book. Any page reference or chapter number?

Many Thanks

Mari

Start of Chapter 16, Bones to Ashes, as i'm in Oz, not sure if my page number will match up but in my book it's page 109. Good luck!
