The first ever reading I gave was at Filthy McNasty's in Islington in 2001, the first outing on a small tour for the launch of The Eyre Affair. This was the 1st edition copy that I used and was inscribed at the time on the title page, and signed in my 2001 uppercase signature. I used it for the small amount of readings I did on that first tour, and it has a lot of post-its that I stuck in with notes to remind myself on what the hell I was talking about, as well as some notes hastily written on a sheet of Langham Court Hotel letter paper, in pencil, to give me an idea of what subjects I should cover on talks. (In the margin there is a note to myself: 'Keep it short and don't be boring') There are other notes scribbled on the book as well as reading annotations and excisions to keep the reading passages shorter. Condition: Tatty. Reserve price: £250 or $500.
