Alan Hogg reads Thursday Next up a tower
This example of "Thursday Next Extreme" was submitted by Alan Hogg who explains why he is strapped into some sort of device, and also manages a nifty Hamlet reference:

"...Hoping to sneak away with the 'head in the clouds' award, you can see me leafing through "Something Rotten" on top of our 35 m tall atmospheric chemistry research tower. It's located in the forest of Northern, lower Michigan, USA. You can see our sister tower in the background, as well as lovely Douglas Lake, all part of our 10,000 acre research station. As for the protective gear, it's required in case the wind should blow north-north-west. Happily, at the time of this picture, it was southerly, and hawks and handsaws could be safely identified...."
