Thank you, we must do this again sometime.

If you liked that, you would probably like 'The Nextarillion'.

Is that whisky? Southern Comfort was my poison. Bells of Perth is sheepdip or astringent, depending whether ewe are man or beast. I apologise for never having liked any Scottish variety knowingly.

On the other hand it may not be whisky and this may be the funniest thing I have written all night.

'The Nextarillion' was serialised on this very Ffrorum only a fortnight ago - I think - but newbies arrive all the time.

Yep it's Scotch whisky (single malt). Don't worry about not liking it - many people don't. Do you mean Bells as in the bottles with bells on? It's a blend of whiskys, not a single malt (which is made in one distillery out of barley and the local water), so it's bound not to be as nice. But those two are the malts I like best. Southern Comfort's a bit on the sweet side for me (sorry!)

I once heard of it being called 'BellzaPerth', which required translation. I can't remember the label but it should have had skull and crossbones on (though not for strength).

You needn't like SC on my behalf, I drink so rarely - I decided to give up what little drinking I did when I started driving, so as never to have to decide when to stop.

Johnny Walker - now was it the red or the black label?

Black's best but only for export, so if you drank it in the UK probably red - unless you know my sister who works for the people who make it!

I'm sure it was black, but that was 24 years ago (I was just legal). So how did they get hold of it in Derby?

The major thing about whisky is, never mix it. A clean glass and no water, let alone floating escapees from a Christmas cracker.

I tried a 10 or 15 year old Macallan a few years back that was quite nice.

I also once tried a single malt scotch called Sheep Dip. It lived up (down?) to the name.

Definitely down. Depends on the whisky but some are dire. Claymore! It'll probably kill you (and that's just looking at the bottle). Allegedly. I'm going to get sued here.

Can't say I've tried Claymore. I'll be sure to keep it that way.

Wise move. It's vile. Also anything made in Japan's probably avoidable. Just doesn't seem to work.

I actually got Sarah to make me a 'toffee toastie' many years ago as she had a sandwich maker and is a great sport.

Actually they were rather nice.
