And at the same time expecting the world to adopt their norms and terminology?

I can see why I have never seen any of your Alma Mata performing in Stand Up Comedy.

Quite.

Although I dare say the joke sounds slightly better if told in Dutch (barring Green in the plane) to a Dutch audience.
And the explanatory part tends to dull up the whole thing. Wouldn't know why, though.

It can be difficult to get into meetings about mathematical humour, as the doorways tend to be blocked by the cries "After you," and "No, after you," and "No, I insist, after you," from the deferential equations.

The great unanswered question is why has this thread died out.

As a member of "Campaign to Resurrect Abandoned Phorums" I shall endeavour to bring back into the public awareness old thread lines.

Be Very Afraid!

The problem is trying to remember how off-topic we have got, and where we have been so that we don't accidentally end up back there. That could result in a feedback loop that by it's very predictability could possibly be construed as being on topic!

Bunyip a fantastic start to the new campaign - C TRAP

How far off-topic have we got? That is a truly great unanwered question.

Were there any signposts to check?

At any given time, how many people are looking for their keys?

I think that it is the quantum concept of all things being one. Eventually we shall have a common response to any given question on all the threds.

When that happens the entire fforum will collapse as if into a black hole and we will be left with a blankness.

It may be as Douglas Adams said of the universe - when someone discovers what it is for, it will immediately be replace by something evenm more strange.

Bring it on, I say. (apologies for sounding like the former Mrs Andre)

Yes, but it is easier if you start at Amarillo.
