No, Mr X is a guessing game that is far too fiendish and unforgiving for these boards.

19 A container? Yes.
18 Akin to bubblewrap? No.
17 Usually carried around on one's person? Let's say 'yes', on journeys.
16 Made of plastic? YES, SI, OUI, HAI, IGEN!
15 A household appliance? No.
14 Multicoloured squares? No.
13 Used by children? Yes, not exclusively.
12 Comprised of paper? No.
11 Electronic? No
10 Scissors? No.
09 Made of metal? No.
08 Shape considered ugly? No.
07 Use batteries? Nac ydw.
06 Practical rather than decorative? Yes.
05 Moving parts? Yes.
04 A cup? Nope.
03 Edible? Strictly speaking, no.
02 Bigger than a breadbox? Not usually.
01 Animal? Definitely not.

One guess to go. Better not rush into it. I'll sit here for a while, taking an occasional sip of refreshing spring water from my recyclable plastic drink bottle container. No hurry. Lots of time.

Volunteers for the next game can start queueing here.

MC, I'll join you in that drink, but my container is one of those SIGG brass things, purple of course...

and ask a question. I meant to ask it yesterday but we all know how computers exist in order to cause communication errors.

Would the item be a plastic bottle, perhaps with water in it? Or, perhaps it *was* a bottle, presumably it would be empty by now.

I think, VM that MS already got it with plastic bottle. Like you, mrs. SkidMarks uses a Sigg bottle (maroon, I think.) I find that the glass bottles favoured by stolichnaya, Smirnoff and Wyborowa work well

Much as I'd like to take credit for the solution, I feel I should correct you: MC got the answer of plastic bottle (assuming that is confirmed), not myself (MS).

Nope. Not only did I not make an actual guess, I was using a drink bottle container, rather than an actual drink bottle. The drink bottle container holds a pack of six plastic drink bottles and is knitted from steel wool by a nomadic family of retired Elbonian I.T. engineers, then submitted to the patented water-proofing process which enables it to hold a full Jeroboam of the desired liquid. Stumpy Scrumpy, in in this case. A single bottle doesn't hold anywhere near enough to get a decent glow on. I'm about halfway through, which means I'm not only feeling no pain at all, but not very much of anything else.

To quote VM, "Would the item be a plastic bottle."

If that is in fact the answer, then (heh heh) VM is the one feeling the awful weight of responsibility as the Mantle of Questionability descends.

Is it a plastic bottle? YES!

VM gets the inimitable prize. The sceptre's out for cleaning and the cloak has to be mended but the ceremonial diadem is still here to be passed over.

<There are too many "M" names in here, how confusing...>

<Bows, thanks ES, accepts diadem, hopes the sparkles are amethysts, things MUST match>

(Hey, I can dream)

I have a cloak, and it's too hot here for those heavy woolen things anyway, so don't worry about that, but I've always wanted a sceptre. Thank you! Please send it along as soon as it's clean. Or at least polished.

OK. Got something in mind. Who wants to be first with a question?

<Wondering if Stumpy Scrumpy (OH MY! "scrumpy" does not have the dreaded red lines under it like "sceptre" does, I think I've learned a new word!) is for sale in the US? sounds delightful...>

01) Mineral? No.

<tries to avoid dull regular questions>

Is it alive?

<tries to avoid responding that the dull regular questions are the ones that actually narrow down the possibilities>

<fails>

Is it alive? That is debatable. I shall transmogrify the question to "Is it of the vegetable category?"

So:

02) Vegetable? Yes.
01) Mineral? No.

Question 15 Is it a water bottle ES?

(Sorry, Easter holidays, haven't been able to get near the computer without first removing little gegs, and I don't really like to touch them without wearing gloves.

Was thinking of developing some new form of communication that doesn't involve using the computer. Have been experimenting by making marks on papyrus with ground up minerals, but I don't think it will ever catch on)

<giggles>

<crochets geg some Easter egg colored gloves>

02.5) It *was* a plastic bottle of water, is now something else...

You could gather all your sheets of marks together and protect them in some form of card shell, although to do so would be a bind.

Well, vegetables are generally alive.

Is it in part or wholly green?

<contemplates chlorophyll briefly and various types if vegetables VS things that grow and are alive but not intelligently sentient or at least alive enough to argue with me>

Is a type of fungi?

<nearly everything argues with me, chlorophyll or no.>

04) Is a type of fungi? No.
03) Is it in part or wholly green? Yes. (I really want that spelled "wholey" and I don't think that will ever happen. Hole/whole, holey/wholey. Suits me!) (wondering why everything argues with me...)
02) Vegetable? Yes.
01) Mineral? No.

<geg, I just found some oil pastels from about 20 years ago, they seem fine. apparently I don't need them. would you like to have them to decorate your papyrus?>
