Wasn't it Major Major's father (in Catch 22) who was paid by the govt. not to grow alfalfa? He invested the money in new land each year and didn't grow more and more alfalfa until he became rich by not growing alfalfa.

I haven't gotten any money from avoiding the Fforum, but it has been suggested that I might get better grades if I do. But I figure that I'll just tell my professors I haven't been on here in weeks and secretly go on anyway.

... for which (if you were my student), I'd give you higher grades but secretly record lower ones.
