Definately not importatant - just lucky enough to be able to see a good thing and not clever enough to tie it up in an exclusive deal.

We were importing hanfuls of the books. Games Workshop tied up a deal as official importers about 6 months after we had been bringing them into the U.K. :-(

Heheh.

A friend of mine had a character armed with a pen that would be almost assured of beating a sword-armed opponent. They also had a spovel (a mix of a spade and a shovel, which was apparently nasty)....

Shades of TP again: "The pen is mightier than the sword only if it is a very large pen and a very small sword." When philosophers had to prove their sayings......

One of the rules changes that I introduced into any group I was playing was that gold could only count for EPs if it was wasted. (I.E. a magic user who spent loot on research stayed at the same level, but gained the extra spells, one who spent it in a tavern could go up a level, however a barbarian beserker who spent his money in the same tavern would not get the EP points and needed to study or give (anonymous) charitable donations to get the experience.

Not only did this keep characters at the lower, more interesting levels, for longer, it stopped the game becoming an arms race.

I have to make a new character. The one I've been playing since 2nd edition is now too rediculously powerful to even consider. (sigh)

IMHO the game is much more fun when you have to be worried about Kobolds. Then again, I always used to sling severel thousand of 'em at unsuspecting parties!

edited post as originally I couldn't make up my mind between "worry" or "be worried" so went for a combination of them

You should always be worried about Kobolds...

But then in our current game I'm pretty sure a lot of what's going on was set in motion by a single Kobold who's on the party.

Unless you are a Paladin, stomp the little *&^^%%. If you are a Paladin, stomp the little *&^&^% and then ask a cleric for absolution.

It's funny how the game works out sometimes....

DM "You find a chest. What do you do?"
Player "I open it!"
DM "Um... Don't you want to check for traps first?"
Player "No! I open it!"
DM "Ok... Arrows fly out and hit all characters with etc...."

Hey everyone,

I've been around for a while but didn't notice this thread at first and then upon discovering it failed to come up with a moderately interesting way to introduce myself. I still haven't found one but I've given up and I'm going to introduce myself anyway. Here goes:

My name is actually Jane, although the Elliot was a bit of poetic license. If it's a good enough alias for Jane Eyre it's good enough for me. I'm 18 on Thursday (hooray!) and from Surrey in England (boring, boring, BORING area of the world). I will read anything once and most things twice, after that I reserve for especially good books. That's about all I can think to say!

Welcome JE. Pies are ready.

Please ensure that your poetic licence is signed and correctly dated.

Mrs. SkidMarks and I used to live in Surrey, before and after living in Switzerland and before moving to Greater Manchester. Guildford, Camberley and then Ash Vale, right on the border, next to Aldershot.

We are glad we moved!

It is nice to see that you are all so friendly! Also the randomly-popping-up afro-squirrels are highly amusing!

Pies sound good!
